Tom Leahy has a passion for the law which has spanned more than 40 years. He is recognized for his achievements in the practice of family law and civil litigation. Tom Leahy brought his skills and experience to Gervais Law in 2004.

Tom is a long-term resident of Crystal Lake, moving to the area in 1955 as a small child. Growing up on the family farm in McHenry County, he received an education in farming and hard work. He attended Marian Central High School where he ran track and played basketball. After receiving his Bachelors of Science in business administration from Marquette University, Tom served as a commissioned officer in the US Army Military Police Corps. In 1972, he graduated from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar.

Past-president of the McHenry County Bar Association, Tom is a respected member of the Family Law section of both the McHenry County and the Illinois State Bar Associations. He also serves as a court arbitrator, participating in hearings and decisions to achieve a fair result.

Community involvement includes membership and recognition from the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce. Tom's former firm received one of five achievement awards at the 1986 annual dinner. An avid sailor, Tom learned to sail during a storm on Crystal Lake when he was a teen. He has sailed in competitions on Lake Michigan and crewed with friends on Lake Superior and Lake Geneva. Practice areas for Tom include family law and civil litigation. He is an excellent resource for his colleagues at Gervais Law.

According to Dave Gervais, "Tom provides a depth of research and breadth of understanding of the legal process along with a passion for fairness that is hard to find. We value his input and opinion. We are happy to have Tom Leahy on our team. His reputation throughout the county is one of respect and admiration."
